Fashion and Your Pregnancy by Valerie M

When you first found out you were pregnant you probably began to immediately wonder what gender your baby was. Next, you probably also began imagining who they would look like. After a while your mind probably began to imagine the type of clothing you planned to dress them in. This is all part of the fun of pregnancy and the anticipation of the arrival of the baby.

Today, however, many people can have almost all of their questions answered before the baby arrives - they can know the gender, and with 3D ultrasound technology they can even get a peek at their baby's face quite clearly. This means that preparing for the arrival of a baby can become a great deal more simplified. The right clothing can be purchased, a bedroom can be completely decorated and gifts can be selected for the little boy or girl about to arrive.

If you do know the gender of your baby, you can have some real fun with fashion because today's children's clothing manufacturers are offering a remarkable range of styles for newborns and older. The thing to remember is that you should really consider the types of clothing you are going to need before making any requests or purchases.

For example, if a baby is due in the fall, the clothing received at the time of birth should be geared towards winter or cold weather since this is the period of time when the baby will first be heading out into public. This doesn't mean you can't have a fashionably dressed newborn to tote around your home, however. Today, there are an amazing number of onesies made in stylish prints and designs. Boys can wear "Army" style onesies with camouflage stars and girls can sport tutu onesies and diaper covers as well.

Many pregnant women have baby showers thrown for them in the weeks leading up to the arrival of their new boy or girl. Knowing the gender of the baby will make a shower much more effective because the guests will be able to supply the soon-to-be mother with all of the clothing and gear they need. It should be noted, however, that not all of the clothes should be purchased in the newborn size. A savvy mother will request some pieces for the later months, which means choosing pieces that will work well for the coming seasons. Again, if the baby is due in the fall, the mother should request summer clothes in the appropriate sizes.
